Judy Shulman was a Senior Research Associate for 25 years at WestEd, an education non-profit organization in San Francisco. Her research and practical work focused on improving teacher education and teacher learning. Judy pioneered the development and use of practitioner-written casebooks as professional development tools for teachers, teacher educators and staff developers, and published numerous articles in academic journals. She retired in 2007 and used her expertise to develop narrative and video cases for Jewish educators. Judy has served on the Boards of Gideon Hausner Day School and Congregation Kol Emeth, was a founding member of Kehillah Jewish High School, and currently serves on the Federation’s Executive Allocation Committee, the South Peninsula grants committee, and the Diller committee that annually selects the best Jewish educators in the Bay Area. She also visits patients at the Stanford Hospital under the auspices of the Jewish Chaplaincy and serves as a consultant to Friendship Circle.
