Chumash |
This class is an in depth text based study. Students progressively advance their skills over the course of 4 years and graduate with the ability to independently study any text with the associated commentaries and achieve a high level of understanding. Our four year cycle covers Breishis, Shemos, Bamidbar and Devarim. Our classes are run on a track system with a variety of different levels available depending on each student’s skill level.

Nach |
The Nach classes in Meira Academy focus on the broader understanding of the text using a variety of commentaries. This is a text based class that helps students advance their textual skills. Each year, students cover two texts, one in Navi and one in Kesuvim. Our four year cycle includes Melachim, Yeshaya, Yermihyahu, Trei Asar, Mishlei, Rus ,Esther, and Tehilim. Our classes are run on a track system with a variety of different levels available depending on each student’s skill level.

Jewish History |
The goal of this course is to cover 2000 years of Jewish History over the four years a student is in Meira Academy. Topics include the destruction of the Temple, the era of the second Temple, the Tanaim, writing of the Mishna and later the Talmud, Rishonim, Acharonim, Spanish Inquisition, Crusades, different movements in Judaism, Holocaust, and the State of Israel. In addition to the learning in the classroom, students have the opportunity to research different topics and present to the class.

Hashkafa |
Every year, students in Meira Academy study a different aspect of Jewish Hashakafa. In the 9th and 10th grade, the focus is on Bein Adam L’Chavero- interpersonal skills. In the 11th and 12th grade, the focus is on Bein Adam L’Makom- our relationship with Hashem. In addition, students delve into a text such as Michtav M’Eliyahu, Mesilas Yesharim and Igeres HaRamban.

Halacha |
Our Halacha curriculum is a 4 year curriculum that focuses on real life application of Jewish Law. Students study the 39 Melachos of Shabbos, Laws of Muktzeh, Kavod and Oneg Shabbos, Brachos and Kashrus. Lessons come to life when the students take what they learned in the text and model it in handset activities.

Parsha |
Weekly, the students prepare the weekly parsha using the pesukim and Rashi’s commentary. This class builds their independant learning skills in conjunction with their Chumash class. Students walk away with stronger skills, an understanding of the weekly Torah portion and a life lesson from each Parsha that applies to their lives.
